#DAHMER 2002 MOVIE REVIEW SERIAL#
Biopic about notorious American serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, taking place in both the past and the present.the poster advertised this as "Dahmer the Cannibal" but never do you actually seem him eat a victim. If you want a "Silence of the Lambs" thriller with gore, then you will be disappointed. If you know a lot about Jeffrey Dahmer and want a little peek into his madness, you should check this out. It could have told more of the Dahmer story and actually shown how he was caught, but it ends before anything of real sustenance happens.

This movie is close to being good and memorable, but it just falls kind of flat. The ending is perhaps the worst ending I have seen for a movie, it just ends with no payoff or resolution. Outside of this though, the movie is a mess. Jeremy Renner does an eerily good job as the titular character, and gives him a real human feel, which makes this movie all the more unsettling. I think this movie did a great job of letting the viewer piece together dome of the horrific acts Dahmer did. I appreciate that this movie did not go for much gore, we understand what Jeffrey Dahmer did in real life. I did not find myself feeling any sympathy towards him, but found him to be manipulative and creepy, which is what I want to see in a serial killer movie. "Dahmer" does a pretty good job at portraying Jeffrey Dahmer's psychological state and how far he had fallen from humanity.

It is a difficult task to pull this off when the main character is such a horrific person, are we supposed to feel sympathy for them? Are they meant to be portrayed as some sort of hero? If so, that is pretty tasteless. At the same time, this is not supposed to be a documentary and people want to see a movie, so cinematic elements need to be present. These are real people, and their victims are real people with family members. Making a movie about a real serial killer is no easy task.
